Meet Dashawn Mayweather
Dashawn Mayweather is a Learning and Development Consultant, a justice reform advocate, and one of the emerging voices in legal storytelling. Her debut work, The Broken Gavel, is an unflinching pursuit of accountability, resilience in the face of adversity, and betrayal with one of Georgia’s most controversial legal cases.
The Broken Gavel is more than a memoir; it’s the foundation of a genre-defying series that blends personal narrative, legal insight, and ethical reflection. It functions as both case study in judicial failure, and a catalyst for deeper dialogue about justice, accountability, and the human cost of systemic breakdowns. Part memoir, part legal reflection, and part ethical conversation starter, it’s designed to be read in living rooms, classrooms, and legal circles alike.
Dashawn holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University and an M.S. in Management with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness from Troy University. With over 20 years of experience in learning and development, specializing in instructional design, she brings clarity, structure, and human-centered insight to complex systems and narratives. Her ability to distill technical, legal, and emotional content into accessible, transformative experiences shapes how she writes, teaches, and leads.
After being personally impacted by legal misconduct, Dashawn studied the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct and Georgia Supreme Court rulings. This self-guided research empowered her to write a complaint against her former attorney, an action that ultimately contributed to the attorney’s disbarment.
Dashawn is the founder and Managing Director of The Broken Gavel, LLC, a multimedia platform. She is also the host of The Broken Gavel podcast, where legal truth meets lived experience.
Through her storytelling, Dashawn amplifies the voices of those failed by the legal system and those bold enough to fight back.
Born in Detroit and based in Atlanta, Dashawn continues to write, teach, and speak at the intersection of lived experience, legal accountability, and learning. She is building a movement, not just a memoir.
